Care instructions

GENERAL

Our jewelry is made from 925 sterling silver. Sterling silver is an alloy of 92.5 % pure silver and 7.5 % copper, but contains no nickel.

Our collections also include rose gold plating. This is not real gold. The sterling silver jewelry is gold-plated with 18 carat rose gold.

We also combine our jewelry pieces with other materials such as copper, brass, onyx, tiger's eye, labradorite and many other gemstones.

Many of our pieces of jewelry are not polished silver, but partially blackened to give them more character and depth. We treat the surface to give it a vintage look.

In principle, silver forms silver sulphide in combination with sulphur. Silver sulphide is black and therefore forms a clearly visible patina on the light-colored silver surface. This is not an indication of lower quality, but rather a normal chemical reaction of this precious metal.

In the long term, silver therefore has the property of tarnishing and turning black, as it oxidizes with the oxygen contained in our air or other oxidants in combination with hydrogen sulphide.
In addition to this non-apparent influence on the material, other factors from daily life, such as taking medication, can also lead to a change in the jewelry.

Proper and regular care can extend the life of the jewelry.

In order to enjoy your valuable and beautiful pieces of jewelry for as long as possible, you should follow a few basic rules:

  • Do not wear silver jewelry when doing housework or gardening - contact with cleaning agents can attack the material.
  • Take silver jewelry off when swimming (whether in a swimming pool or at sea) - chlorinated water or salt water can attack the material.
  • Do not wear silver jewelry during sport - the sulphur contained in sweat can react with the silver.
  • Take silver jewelry off when showering - body care products can contain substances that attack the material.
  • Only put the jewelry on after applying cosmetics - hair lacquer, perfumes, sun creams and any cosmetics can damage the surface.

CLEANING:

SILVER

To remove slight discoloration on the surface, we recommend using a silver cleaning cloth. This can be used to restore the original shine of the silver. For stubborn discoloration, you should use a silver cleaning bath or an ultrasonic cleaner.
Please follow the instructions for use!
Blackened/oxidized jewelry, on the other hand, should not The surface should not be treated with silver cleaning baths, as this can cause the blackening to be lost. However, the surface can be easily polished with a jewelry care cloth.

GOLDENING

Our jewelry is made of 925 sterling silver and 18-karat rose gold plating.
There is no finish that adheres permanently to silver. Depending on use and care, gold plating will wear off over time. This will affect the areas that are most frequently exposed to friction. This is a surface abrasion that cannot be avoided. Such wear marks do not represent a material defect.
Gold-plated jewelry should never be treated with silver cleaning baths. This will remove the gold plating.

ZIRCONIA

If the zirconia stones lose their shine, they can be polished up again with a soft cloth or silver polishing cloth.

GEMSTONES

We often use precious stones for our jewelry. Some stones are soft natural stones; external influences such as scratches are normal signs of wear. They are not material defects.
Natural stones are NOT Suitable for cleaning in a silver cleaning bath.

STORAGE:
If silver jewelry is not worn for a long time, it should be stored in an airtight container to prevent it from tarnishing too quickly.
Do not store jewelry in damp rooms - moisture causes silver in particular to oxidize and tarnish over time.
Jewelry is best stored in a jewelry box, in individual cloth bags or wrapped in a soft cloth.

However, we ask for your understanding that we cannot accept complaints due to discoloration of the silver or changes in the material for the reasons mentioned above, as this is not a defect but a completely normal, material-typical process that can be avoided as far as possible by careful handling of the material.
